Heartbreak in Louth as mourners pay tribute to young local man

Tributes have poured in for Louth man David McGuinness, remembered by his local community as a "lovely, young man."

David was from Belfry Drive in Dundalk in Louth and passed away peacefully on Monday 7th April 2025 in the care of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

David will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his heartbroken dad Niall, sisters Sarah and Eimear, brothers-in-law Joe Canning and Daniel Fenton, nephews Jake, Kyle, Lucas and Jack, niece Grace, uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family relatives, friends and neighbours.

Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered David, with one mourner writing,

"David you will be so dearly missed by your dad, sister's and close family, also by your dear friends, you were such a lovely young man who bore your illness with such strength, may you now rest in peace with your mam xx".

"Very saddened to hear this news. Sincere condolences to Niall, Sarah, Eimear and their families also the Mc Guinness family. David was such a lovely young man, gone far too soon. Rest in Eternal Peace David, look down on your family and give them strength to cope at this very difficult time. Reunited with your beloved Mum," another tribute read.

Another message said, "My deepest condolences to David’s family. A lovely, quiet chap—known him from primary school, same year but different class. We’d see each other at Oriel Park supporting the Town, and later I had the pleasure of working with him in PayPal. He would never pass you by—always a genuinely lovely guy. RIP, ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam."

"I'm absolutely so shocked to see this really sad news. Poor David, way too young. Fond memories of hanging out with the gang in Belfry as a teenager. Would later see David at Dundalk games or out for pints with his dad.
My thoughts are with your dad, sisters, nephews and niece at this very tough time," another mourner said.

FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS:
