Dundalk company speaks out on Louth zoning decision

KTF Housing works with Glenveagh in the delivery of timber frame structures for new homes

KTF Housing, a Dundalk company that works with Glenveagh Properties to deliver timber frames for the houses that it builds, has issued a statement following the news that Glenveagh has asked the High Court to overturn a recent decision by Louth councillors to dezone land in Haggardstown, that Glenveagh says will block the construction of approximately 500 new homes.

Glenveagh says it and KTF have a strong track record of working together to deliver timber frames for the houses that it builds. KTF operates in a Glenveagh-owned factory, and it was envisaged that KTF would work on the construction of the proposed homes in Haggardstown.

A spokesperson for KTF said today that: “We noted the decision taken by councillors in March regarding the zoning of the  land in Haggardstown with concern.

"The supply of timber homes for the proposed development in Haggardstown is  equivalent to six months of work for KTF. The impact of this decision by councillors  creates huge disruption to our business.

"Like any business, we need to plan our resources in line with demand for our  products and will need to assess our employment requirements in the event this  business does not materialise for us.

"We work closely with Glenveagh in the delivery of our timber frame structures for  new homes and they have been very supportive of our business here in Dundalk. We were looking forward to increasing the work that we do with them, and it is hugely disappointing that this is now not possible.”
