Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
Water supply is returning to impacted customers in Ardee and surrounding areas following repairs to a mechanical fault at Blakestown Reservoir and a burst on the network at Sliabh Breagh.
Alternative water supplies are available for customers in Smarmore due to the high elevation of the area. A water bowser is available at Ballapousta Church until 12pm today. Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from bowsers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.
Uisce Éireann’s David Reilly thanked affected customers for their cooperation: “Uisce Éireann acknowledges the disruption that can be caused by an unplanned outage and we wish to thank customers in the area for their patience as the reservoir continues to replenish to normal levels.
He continued: “Customers may experience reduced water pressure over the coming days as supply catches up with demand.”
