Gardaí in Dundalk carried out an operation targeting the use of e-scooters and e-bikes on local roads and footpaths this morning, resulting in a number of penalties and vehicle seizures.
The Dundalk Roads Policing Unit confirmed that several fixed penalty notices were issued for people riding on footpaths, which is prohibited. Two e-scooters were also seized under Section 41 of the Road Traffic Act after officers identified multiple offences.
Among the breaches noted were scooters exceeding the legal power output and weight limits. One of the seized scooters also had a seat attached which is prohibited.
