A man who smashed glass in the front door of a house in Dundalk and a living room window has been sentenced at the local district court to perform 180 hours community service in lieu of a three month sentence.

Lukas Aleksynas (27) of Rockfield Manor, Hoey's Lane, Dundalk was charged with criminal damage arising out of the incident at Harbour Grove, Lower Point Road, Dundalk on April 22nd last.

After hearing the victim is unknown to the defendant, Judge Stephanie Coggans said "I want the money paid back to the lady” and added the compensation must be paid before the end of the community service order.
