369 incidents of burglary and related offences were recorded in Louth in the 12 months to the end of Q2 2025
Louth saw a 17% rise in the number of incidents of burglary and related offences recorded in the Louth Garda Division in the 12 months up to the end of June 2025, compared to the previous 12 months, according to the latest data released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
369 incidents of burglary and related offences were recorded in Louth in the 12 months to the end of the second quarter (Q2) 2025 according to the CSO release, CSO Recorded Crime Q2 2025. It is up from 315 incidents recorded in the previous 12 months, representing a rise of 17.1%.
There was also a 10.9% increase in Louth in the number of incidents of theft and related offences recorded in the 12 months to the end of Q2 2025, compared to the previous 12 months, the figures show.
2,452 incidents of theft and related offences were recorded in the Louth Garda Division in the 12 months to Q2 2025, up 240 on the previous 12 months when 2,212 incidents were recorded. This included a 17.4% rise in the number of incidents of theft from a shop were recorded in Louth, with 1,369 incidents recorded in the 12 months to the end of June 2025, compared with 1,166 the previous 12 months.
Nationally, there was a fall in the number of crime incidents of burglary and related offences recorded in the year to Q2 2025, with 7% fewer incidents recorded in the State.
The fall of 698 recorded crime incidents or 7% over the year in the number of recorded incidents of Burglary & Related offences was driven by a fall of 652 incidents or 7% in the number of incidents of Burglary where there was no aggravation.
With regards to theft and related offences nationally, the CSO said that "over the 4-year period (2022-2025), the largest percentage changes in the number of recorded crime incidents have been for Theft & Related offences.
"In the year to Q2 2025, there were 74,292 recorded crime incidents of Theft & Related offences and this showed an increase of 30% or 17,278 incidents from the same period in 2022. In the intervening period, the number of recorded crime incidents increased to 71,104 in the year to Q2 2023 but has been relatively stable after that with the 75,980 incidents in the year to Q2 2024 being slightly more than for the same period in 2025."
