Louth's Spirit Store to feature in new season of Seisiún

Presenter Muireann NicAmhlaoibh with The Gurriers at The Spirit Store

The Spirit Store is set to take centre stage on national television next month as part of the second season of Seisiún, presented by Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh and produced by Whitethorn Films. The episode will be broadcast on Friday, October 10th at 8pm on RTÉ One.

The series shines a spotlight on Ireland’s independent music venues, highlighting their vital role in nurturing young talent while acknowledging the challenges they continue to face in an ever-changing nightlife landscape.

Over the years, the Spirit Store has welcomed both emerging and world-renowned musicians to its stage, building a reputation as one of the country’s most cherished grassroots venues. The Dundalk episode will feature performances from rising punk outfit Gurriers, alongside reflections on the venue’s cultural importance.

Derek Turner of The Spirit Store said:

“We’re only custodians of the music in this wonderful part of Louth.

“The musicians and performers who have passed through the place are just too many to mention but we hope to be in a position to continue to operate as meeting place for the best of music and the arts while serving the community and our patrons.”
