Richard Hanlon Louth Volunteer Centre Chair, Kayleigh Mulligan Louth Volunteer Centre Manager with the awardees
Louth came together on 5th November, marking UN International Volunteer Managers Day, to celebrate the vital role that volunteer managers and leaders play in supporting thriving, resilient communities.
The occasion was highlighted by the announcement of the Louth Volunteer Leader Awards, recognising outstanding individuals who exemplify dedication, leadership, and passion in guiding volunteers.
The awards were presented by Louth Volunteer Centre (Louth VC) at their special Trustee Celebration & Showcase event in Bellingham Castle, which also marked the launch of Louth VC’s new Strategic Plan 2026–2030. Chair Richard Hanlon highlighted the organisation’s mission, saying: “We connect people with opportunities to make a difference. By supporting and celebrating volunteers, we help build inclusive, resilient, and thriving communities across our county.”
He challenged both organisations and volunteers in Louth to hold Louth VC accountable by making full use of its services from free role advertising and a suite of volunteer management training, to Garda vetting and a year-round programme of events.
This year, there were a record number of entries for the Louth Volunteer Leader Awards, reflecting the extraordinary commitment of volunteer leaders across the county. Nominations were carefully judged by Gerry Kelly (LMFM), Nina Arwitz (CEO, Volunteer Ireland),
Rebecca Carolan (Sage Advocacy), and a Louth VC board member, ensuring a fair and thoughtful selection process.
“It is such an honour to be presenting the Louth Volunteer Leader Awards again for the sixth year,” said Kayleigh Mulligan, Louth VC Manager.
