Uisce Éireann water network upgrades
Fianna Fáil TD for Louth, Erin McGreehan has welcomed the commencement of upgrade works to the water infrastructure in the Dunbin area of Dundalk, a project that will play a key role in supporting future housing and development in the region.
These works, represent an investment of €750,000, will involve the replacement and upgrade of approximately 1.2 kilometres of water mains along Ardee Road and Carrickmacross Road.
The project will increase the supply capacity of the local water network, ensuring a more reliable and resilient service for the existing community while also unlocking the potential for over 120 new homes in the area.
Speaking about the commencement of works, Deputy McGreehan, said: “Investment in water infrastructure is fundamental to the sustainable growth of our communities.

"By improving capacity and reliability, projects like this one in Dunbin not only secure water services for residents but also enable potential new housing development of over 120 homes and economic development for years to come.”
The works form part of Fianna Fáil’s ongoing commitment to upgrading and futureproofing water infrastructure across the country, ensuring that growing towns like Dundalk have the services they need to thrive, and boosting housing supply.
She added: “Modern, high-quality water infrastructure is essential for delivering new homes, attracting investment, and supporting community growth.
"This upgrade in Dunbin is another example of how strategic investment can unlock development potential while ensuring a dependable water supply for everyone.
“It also reaffirms Fianna Fáil’s commitment to unlocking the potential of the marking by pulling every lever at our disposal to ensure we boost housing supply."
To facilitate the safe delivery of the works, a Stop/Go traffic management system will be in place at the R178 Carrickmacross Road near Thomastown, and the R171 Ardee Road. Standard working hours are 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.
