Bord Bia is inviting local community groups and garden enthusiasts in Louth to participate at Bord Bia Bloom by designing and delivering their very own green space at the celebrated summer event. The popular Postcard Gardens, supported by Tirlán CountryLife provide community groups, schools, charitable organisations and garden clubs with the opportunity to tell their stories on a national stage through creative design. Bord Bia Bloom returns for five exciting days over the June Bank Holiday weekend (Thursday May 28th – Monday June 1st, 2026) for the 20th year of the event.
The Postcard Gardens are one of the stand-out attractions at the prestigious gardening festival. This feature offers a unique opportunity for groups to reach a national audience and share their stories, raise awareness of important issues and connect with a diverse audience base. As the name suggests, these compact gardens, which measure just 3m x 2m, demonstrate that impactful outdoor spaces can be created at any scale. Since the event began, more than 100 postcard gardens have been showcased by communities nationwide.
Kerrie Gardiner, Show Garden and Horticulture Content Manager at Bord Bia Bloom, said: “The Postcard Gardens wow us every year at Bloom, and showcase just how impactful storytelling can be through a green canvas. It’s important to remember that these gardeners are not professionals, yet they design and build these rich gardens each year, all in one day. Last year’s exhibits featured themes of accessibility, food security, care services, mental health, biodiversity, music and even Japanese art techniques! We look forward to receiving applications full of vibrant, fresh ideas from interested groups.”
Returning sponsor of the Postcard Gardens is Tirlán CountryLife. The 100% farmer-owned group, offers an in-house, qualified horticulturist in each of its garden centres nationwide to provide helpful tips and advice to newbie customers and seasoned gardeners alike.
Commenting, Ann Meaney, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer, Tirlán CountryLife said, “The Postcard Gardens at Bord Bia Bloom celebrate the same creativity and community spirit we see every day in our 15 garden centres across Ireland. We’re proud to support the 2026 participants as they bring their ideas to life.”
Now in its 20th year, Bord Bia Bloom will once again transform the Phoenix Park into a vibrant celebration of horticulture, food and sustainable living. Spanning 70 acres and welcoming over 100,000 attendees each year, Bord Bia Bloom has become a cornerstone of Ireland’s summer calendar. As Ireland’s largest gardening festival, it is a living showcase of creativity, innovation, and nature conservation.
Applications are now open for groups interested in creating a Postcard Garden. To learn more and download an application form, visit BordBiaBloom.com. The closing date for submissions is Tuesday March 3rd, 2026.
