LATEST: Louth gardai issue update following discovery of man's body in Dundalk

Gardai say a file will be prepared for the local coroner foul is ruled out following grim discovery on Thursday

Gardai investigating the death of a man in County Louth earlier this week say a file will now be prepared for the local coroner as foul play has been ruled out.

The man's body was discovered outside a residential property at Dúiche Roden, Dundalk shortly after 8am on Thursday.

A major investigation was launched and the scene was examined by members of the Garda Technical Bureau. The office of the State Pathologist was also notified and provided assistance.

In an update, gardai say a post-mortem examination has since been carried out on the body of the man, who was aged in his 30s.

"The results of the examination are not being released for operational reasons. A file will now be prepared for the Coroner," said a spokesperson.

While no further information has been disclosed publicly, it's understood investigating gardai do not suspect foul play.

A Garda Family Liaison Officer is supporting the family of the deceased.

Anyone with information about the man's death is asked to contact Dundalk garda station on 042 9388400, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any garda station.

Investigations are ongoing.
