The Louth Yearbook 2025 featuring interviews, photos and a round-up of the news over the last 12 months will be in shops this week.

As another year draws to an end, we look back on the communities and people that make the Wee County mighty.

In the 2025 Louth Yearbook the Dundalk Democrat team revisits a year of remarkable events, achievements, and unforgettable moments across the county.

The year roared in like a lion, bringing some of the harshest weather Louth had seen for some time with Storm Eowyn, causing widespread destruction across the county.  Thankfully, emergency services and Louth County Council responded quickly to incidents and local businesses rallied to support the community.

Any January blues there were disappeared as people celebrated Dundalk getting a clean sweep in the Irish Business Against Litter (IBAL) survey, soaring ten places to rank 20th out of 40 towns and cities and earning the coveted ‘Clean to European Norms’ status.

For many the highlights of 2025 were on the sporting front with Louth being crowned Leinster Senior Football Champions for the first time since 1957, sparking a wave of pride and joy that swept across the county.

While Louth Ladies were crowned All-Ireland JFC Champions, after 43 years, the Wee County was also crowned Leinster U20 Champions.

And of course we watched with great pride as inspirational athlete Kate O'Connor made history, winning a silver medal on the global stage at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.

This came in a phenomenal year for the local sport star, which saw her also collect European Indoor bronze, World Indoor silver, and World University Games gold in 2025.

We also saw Dundalk FC complete a hard fought resurrection to be promoted to the Premier Division.

The past year was also the occasion of celebration for many leading community groups with the Louth in Bloom Awards honouring the outstanding contributions of individuals and communities dedicated to enhancing the natural beauty of County Louth.

The Birches Alzheimer Day Care Centre in Dundalk celebrated its 25th anniversary and Caoimhe Kenny from Blackrock, Co Louth was crowned Miss Ireland.

The Louth Yearbook also features a full listing of Christmas events, as well as a glimpse of what 2026 has in store on the sporting front.

Hope you enjoy delving into the memorable moments to be found in the pages of the 2025 Louth Yearbook. Thank you for your continued support.
