The council responded that the request would be looked into, with consideration given to a suitable location for the bin.
At the recent Dundalk Municipal District meeting, Councillor Ciaran Fisher called attention to the need for a public bin along the new road at Mount Avenue.
Speaking on the issue, he noted that both he and Councillor Kelly had previously raised concerns about litter in the area.
“I can only assume the litter survey was carried out after residents had done their own clean-up,” he said, pointing out that a walk or drive along the road clearly shows the need for a bin.
Councillor Fisher added that recently residents had found 12 dog waste bags left behind, further underlining the requirement.
