There have been renewed calls for a new train station in North Drogheda
Ged Nash, Labour TD for Louth made fresh appeals for a new train station in North Drogheda as car parks at both Dundalk and Drogheda stations are at "full capacity".
Deputy Nash called on Minister for Transport, Darragh O'Brien to work with Irish Rail to provide "better access to parking for all rail users".
He also called for the reopening of the station in Dunleer.
Minister O'Brien said that although he is responsible for policy and the overall funding of public transport, he is not involved with the day-to-day operations of public transport.
However, the minister did say he would raise the issue with Irish Rail.

It comes after a motion passed through Louth County Council for it too, to engage with Irish Rail on the matter.
The motion was proposed by independent councillors Paddy McQuillan, Kevin Callan and Declan Power.
Cllr Callan told the December meeting of Louth County Council, that Drogheda station is "totally overwhelmed".
The councillors called for Louth County Council to replicate the approach taken by Limerick City and County Councils, who they said have taken "a collaborative approach with Irish Rail", to grant planning permission for a train station in Moyross.
