DkIT Students have raised over €3,300 for the Irish Wheelchair Association

Business Students from Dundalk Institute of Technology have raised over €3,300 for the Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA).

The third and and fourth year students raised the money through hosting two fundraising events for the IWA.

The first of the events was a 5k charity walk and roll. The "Run and Roll' event saw participants set of from DkIT and loop around the town.

The students then organised a Christmas quiz, hosted by one of the class members. The evening rounded off with a raffle, with prizes sourced completely by the students.

The IWA expressed its gratitude to the students of DkIT for their commitment and generosity.

"The funds they have raised will provide vital support to our work in the local community, helping to break down social isolation barriers facing people with disabilities and so much more.

It also shows the power of young people in driving inclusion and positive change. Thank you.”

Leila Alaou, who was part of the fundraising group said the events were a "festive way to get people involved".

"We wanted the events to feel warm, social, and community-focused while helping us raise funds for a fantastic charity like the IWA," she said.
