The Community Monuments Fund 2026 is now open for applications
Applications are now open for the Community Monuments Fund 2026, which helps owners of archaeological monuments to safeguard them for the future.
The scheme is funded by Louth County Council, in conjunction with the Department of Heritage.
The scheme offers support for the conservation, maintenance, protection and presentation of archaeological monuments.
The grant scheme is broken into three streams:
1: For essential repairs and capital works for the conservation and repair of archaeological monuments.
2: For the development of Conservation Management Plans/Reports aimed at identifying measures for the conservation of archaeological monuments and improving public access.
3: For enhancement of access infrastructure and interpretation (including virtual/online) at archaeological monuments.

Cathaoirleach of Louth County Council, Cllr Seán Kelly said archaeological heritage is a vital part of Louth's identity and history, and called on all owners and custodians to "play their part" in preserving these monuments.
The total allocation nationwide for the Community Monuments Fund 2026 is €7,500,000.
The deadline for applications is 4pm on Friday, January 30th 2026.
