Plenty of live music in Dundalk' s Toales over the festive season

The Karaoke King Nicky

Here's what's going on on Toales in Dundalk this week.

Friday 26th December - Christmas KARAOKE PARTY with Nicky - Doors @ 8pm - FREE admission!!

St Stephen’s Day lands with a bang in Toales as Nicky — the karaoke guy everyone trusts to get Toales going — takes over for a big, easygoing festive singalong.

He’ll have you jumping from Christmas favourites to the usual guilty-pleasure anthems before you even realise you’ve taken the mic.

To make the night even sweeter, €5 pints run all evening. It’s free in, doors at 8pm, and the perfect way to shake off the post-Christmas lull with a bit of craic, a bit of chorus, and that unmistakable Stephen’s Night buzz.

Saturday 27th December - SEAN McKENNA, SHAMROCK SHOWBAND, PORTER BOYS SOCIAL CLUB!!! Doors @ 8PM - Admission €10

Toales closes out the festive season with a standout night of live music on Saturday 27 December, bringing together three acts connected by heritage, humour, and a modern edge.

Headlining is Dundalk’s own Seán McKenna, now forging his solo path after years with The Mary Wallopers.

His set promises raw storytelling, traditional ballad roots, and a contemporary punch.

Joining him are the Shamrock Showband, a group reviving the showband spirit with a fresh twist. Their blend of fiddle, country influences, and border-town attitude has earned them a growing reputation as one of the most inventive folk-adjacent acts of the moment.

Opening the night are the Porter Boys Social Club, a youthful outfit mixing folk-punk grit with tongue-in-cheek swagger.

Their recent releases show a band unafraid of social commentary, mischief, and big choruses.

Music starts at 8pm, and admission is €10 online, €12 on the night. For anyone looking to end December with energy, tradition, and a dose of devilment, this triple bill is one to catch.

Sunday 28th December - Christmas TRAD SESSION in Toales @ 6pm - Free Admission

Settle in for a proper Christmas wind-down as Toales hosts a cosy, fireside-style trad session full of reels, jigs, songs, and surprise drop-ins.

Musicians drift in and out, the atmosphere stays warm and easy, and the whole place takes on that classic holiday glow.

If you’re after a relaxed Sunday with great tunes, friendly company, and zero fuss, this one’s a perfect fit. Just show up, grab a seat, and enjoy the music.
