Louth sees increase in number of people signing on Live Register

There was an increase across Louth in the number of people signing on the Live Register in December, compared to the previous month, according to the latest figures released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

7,110 people signed on the Live Register in Louth in December 2025, up from 6,839 in November 2025, and also up from 6,936 in December 2024.

Looking at the figures on a local level, 3,124 people signed on in Dundalk in December 2025. This is up from 3,089 in November 2025 but down from 3,192 in December 2024.

721 people signed on in Ardee in December 2025, up from 657 people in November. It is also up slightly on the 718 who signed on in the town in December 2024.

In Drogheda, 3,265 people signed on in December 2025. This is up from 3,093 in November 2025 and also up on December 2024, when 3,026 people signed on in the town.

Looking at the figures nationally, the seasonally adjusted Live Register total for December 2025 was 172,200 people, up by 3,000 people from November 2025.

The unadjusted Live Register total stood at 172,224 people for December 2025, of which 55.7% were male and 71.7% were Irish. This is an increase of 7,418 people or 4.5% when compared with December 2024.

The 25-34 years age group made up the largest number of those on the Live Register in December 2025 at 41,317 people or 24.0% of the total.

The counties that recorded the largest percentage increases in the number of people on the Live Register in the 12 months to December 2025 were Dublin (+11.0%) and Limerick (+7.6%), while the largest decreases were in Donegal (-3.3%) and Monaghan (-2.3%).

In December 2025, there were 119,559 people on the Live Register for less than one year, which was 11,108 more people (+10.2%) than in December 2024.
