Car collides with Garda Armed Support Unit vehicle in north Louth

Gardaí were involved in an incident in Ravensdale, Co Louth, in the early hours of Monday morning (12th January) when a vehicle failed to stop during an active patrol.

At around 12:50am, Gardaí attempted to intercept the car, which subsequently collided with a Garda Armed Support Unit vehicle. 

Thankfully, no injuries were reported during the incident.

Following the collision, the vehicle was recovered by the Police Service of Northern Ireland. 

Gardaí have confirmed that investigations into the matter are ongoing.

In a statement a garda spokesperson said: "While on active patrol at around 12:50am on 12th January 2026 at Ravensdale, Co Louth, Gardaí attempted to intercept a vehicle which failed to stop.

"In the course of the incident, the car collided with the Armed Support Unit vehicle.

"No injuries were reported.

"A vehicle was subsequently recovered by the Police Service of Northern Ireland.

"Investigations are ongoing."
