Local opposition to solar farms on lands in Louth, for reasons including what is being seen as a loss of agricultural land, has seen planning permission granted for two solar developments, covering a total of circa 275.6 hectares (681 acres), being appealed to An Bord Coimisiún (formerly an Bord Pleanála).
Senior Engineer with the Louth County Council described the roads as "riddled with potholes" as it emerged that there are up to 3,000 new potholes on Louth's roads due to recent heavy rainfall.
The Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration, Jim O’Callaghan, turned the sod on Monday on a €6.5million domestic violence refuge facility in Dundalk.
