Jodie Duffy, Lucy Kindlon, Rebecca Lambe Fagan and Joanne White at the Women in Construction Seminar at DkIT
Women in Construction Ireland and the CITBNI Women in Construction Network recently joined forces to host an exclusive cross-border event, showcasing a major construction project with a site visit followed by an engaging seminar focused on sport and construction. The event was in partnership with Ganson Construction, GAA and LGFA and Dundalk Institute of Technology.
To kick off the day, a group joined The Ganson Site Team to visit the new Dundalk GAA Stadium as they brought the group through key project milestones and the challenges faced to date.
Once completed, the new Stadium will have a capacity of 14,000 at the Inner Relief Road, Dundalk and will become the new home for Gaelic Games in County Louth. Ganson Construction operate both north and south of the border and pride themselves on their diverse construction teams, a fantastic partner for the all-island event.
A seminar was then held on the DkIT campus, hosted by Joanne White (Women in Construction Ireland and Lecturer at Dundalk Institute of Technology) and Rachel Dorovatas (Director at CITB NI). The audience heard from Jodie Duffy, a recent graduate of Construction Management now working with Ganson, Lucy Kindlon, a plumber and Monaghan inter county camogie player and Rebecca Lambe Fagan, a recent graduate of Mechanical Engineering and Louth GAA player.

The panel explored the important crossover between sport and construction and shared their experiences transitioning from college into industry.
Speaking at the event, Joanne White said: “Events like this are so important to shine a light not only on the opportunities and achievements of the amazing women in both construction and sport, but also to keep the conversation going about the long journey still ahead to achieve true equity in these fields.”
