Louth Motors: Cars worth the wait?

Staying informed about upcoming releases can be important when buying a car

Louth Motors: Cars worth the wait?

Nissan Micra

If you are in the market for a new car there are considerable factors to consider. Do you want the new registration plate in January or July, Do you buy cash, HP or PCP? Do you downsize or upsize? Is it time to go from petrol/diesel to hybrid, PHEV or BEV? What about all these new Chinese Brands that have appeared?

Am I able/ready for all this new tech and minimalist cabins? And the most important decisions – will I be able to pair my phone and how do I adjust the clock when they go back or forwards? Even the most assured buyer can feel daunted and everyone you know suddenly seems an expert.

People don’t do this that often so it’s not an area that you really can build up expertise. The result for a lot of people is usually a repeat deal at the same dealer and there is nothing wrong with that if you are happy with the car and the dealer treats you right at both purchase and service.

One thing a lot of buyers fail to do is look and see what new models are about to be released in case that may alter their decision. You could find yourself buying a new model for you that may be about to be replaced and your new car will become the old model in a few months. A bit of AI use and/or Internet Search is all that’s needed and you’ll inform yourself a lot better. But to help you on a bit I’ve identified a few new models coming our way soon that you may be interested in.

There is a new all electric Fiat Grande Panda for the style conscious urban family. Then for those with sophisticated tastes there’s two new models from DS the DS N°4 which comes as a full electric car, a plug-in hybrid and a self charging hybrid meaning you are getting electricity one way or the other. The DS N°8 is their flagship model and promises 750km range in a large executive all electric car.

Nissan is about to give us the cute Micra and it is a model current Nissan owners have been eagerly awaiting that will also attract a lot of interest from other owners. Again it is an all electric model. BYD are on a roll and have created a conveyor belt of new models and the next is the Sealion 5 that for a brand that is largely associated with leading the charge for all electric, is a petrol hybrid model. It’s aimed squarely at the Qashqai/ Sportage/Tucson/RAV4 buyer.

Then there is yet another new all electric Kia, this time the EV2 which is their small SUV which here in Ireland we are all very fond of.

Finally, a popular historic favourite here the Opel Astra is getting a revamp for both the saloon and estate and will help build on Opel’s revitalized sales led by the very popular Frontera which has been a huge hit here since it’s launch.

Navigating the modern car market can be a bit overwhelming but staying informed about upcoming releases such as the above ensures you do not buy a model that is about to be replaced. A little research, as I have always said, into these new arrivals will help you transition confidently into your next car.
