The team at Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) says it is looking forward to welcoming runners, walkers, and supporters from across the region to the upcoming Dundalk 10K, taking place next Wednesday 15 April.

The sold-out event, which first began in 2014 is set to see over 1600 participants take part between both the 5K and 10K loops starting and finishing at the DKIT Sport facility. Whether aiming for a personal best or simply enjoying the atmosphere, the Dundalk 10K is set to deliver an enjoyable and inclusive experience for all.

Proceeds from this year’s event will support two very worthwhile causes — Dundalk Soup Kitchen and the DkIT Student Hardship Fund — helping to make a meaningful difference both within the local community and among the DkIT student body.

DkIT says that this year’s 10K would not be possible without the generous support of sponsors, whose contributions have made the event possible.

This year’s sponsors include Servisource, Dundalk Credit Union, GenetiQ, Controlsoft, SKF Dundalk, Old Carrick Mill Distillery, DKIT Sport, and Dundalk Retail Park. DkIT says that their continued commitment to community initiatives plays a vital role in ensuring the success of events like this.

Derek Crilly, Student Services Officer at DkIT said: "Participants and spectators alike can look forward to a lively and welcoming atmosphere on the day, supported by volunteers and staff who will help ensure a safe and enjoyable event for everyone involved.

"As always, it is fantastic to see the great show of local support from the wider community. We would love to see the local community get behind our participants on the night and cheer them on for this fantastic occasion."

If you would like to volunteer to help on the night, please visit the link here. Volunteers are required from 5.30-9.00pm and all will receive a t-shirt and post-race refreshments.
