Chinese-American author Rebecca F. Kuang

An Táin Arts Centre’s book club returns to Roe River Books on Thursday, 30th April at 8pm for a discussion of this month’s selected read, Yellowface by R. F. Kuang.

Rebecca F. Kuang is a Chinese-American author acclaimed for her fantasy fiction, including the bestselling 2022 novel Babel, or the Necessity of Violence, which topped The New York Times Best Seller list and earned the Nebula Award for Best Novel.

Kuang’s fifth novel, Yellowface, is a satire of cultural appropriation, publishing, and social media. It follows a white author who steals her deceased Asian-American friend’s manuscript and passes it off as her own.

Fast-paced and full of suspense, the novel explores themes of jealousy, identity, and the toxic nature of online culture.
