This month, the Enterprise FabLab at Creative Spark welcomed its third international intern as part of the FabLab internship programme.

Manon Guillat is a third year student at Polytech Angers University in France studying Quality, Innovation and Reliability Engineering.

She has travelled to Ireland in order to gain first-hand experience with the digital fabrication tools on offer in Creative Spark's  FabLab.

“So far I’m really enjoying my time in the FabLab. There are so many different machines that I can use to bring my ideas to life and so much potential for exciting projects.”

As a native French speaker, Manon has had to adapt to the English-speaking environment but she is improving every day.

“Since arriving in Ireland and beginning my internship at Creative Spark I have made great progress with my English.

“Everyone is so helpful and considerate too so that really goes a long way.”

Manon is excited to use the WASP and Ginger Well 3D printers and hopes to take advantage of the large-scale machines to create something special.

“I don’t have a clear idea, yet of what I want to make. Perhaps a giant LEGO head or something along those lines.

"The possibilities for creation are endless.”

Upon completing her internship in Creative Spark, Manon will return to France having gained valuable hands-on experience as well as many new skills which will aid her as she finishes her studies.

From there, she has her sights set on becoming a qualified Mechanical Design Engineer
