A 57-year-old man charged in connection with an assault at a local betting shop is on a friendly basis with the injured party, his solicitor told Dundalk district court

A 57-year-old man charged in connection with an assault at a local betting shop is on a friendly basis with the injured party, his solicitor told Dundalk district court last week. 

Kevin Gogarty with an address at Dundoogan, Heynestown was charged with assault with intent to cause bodily harm at Boylesports, Clanbrassil Street, Dundalk on May 26th 2025.

Judge Nicola Andrews was told a victim impact statement was canvassed since the last date and there was none forthcoming.

The court heard Mr Gogarty had 29 previous convictions.

The solicitor said while drugs were a huge problem in the defendant’s youth, that is no longer the case and he is now in stable accommodation.

Judge Andrews imposed a three month suspended sentence on to the defendant entering a good behaviour bond,
