Three Dundalk students are amongst six from the county to have won top prizes in this year’s 72nd Texaco Children’s Art Competition.

In the 6 years and under age category – the youngest age group in the Competition – Harry Casey, age 5, a pupil at Scoil Mhuire na nGael, won third prize for his work entitled ‘Stacey’.

His artwork is described by Final Adjudicator – Irish visual artist, curator and educator – Pauline O'Connell, as “a lively and expressive portrait using gestural paint and crayon to create a sense of character and immediacy.”

In addition, two Dundalk winners each won Special Merit Awards for artworks that Ms. O’Connell said ‘were imaginative and demonstrated high levels of skill and creativity’.

They were Angelina Geyderikh, age 15 from Dundalk Grammar School, and Marcel Gieniec age 8 from Scoil Mhuire na nGael.
