Bentley reveals Supersports-inspired Continental GT S

Bentley has revealed a new driver-focused Continental GT S model, which has been inspired by the limited-run Continental GT Supersport variant.

The Continental GT is one of Bentley’s best-selling and prestigious luxury grand coupes, and the latest ‘S’ model adds more driver-appeal.

It’s available as a two-door coupe or as a two-door drop-top convertible in the GTC S, with both models hooked up to Bentley’s new ‘High-Performance Hybrid’ powertrain. It uses a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine mated to an electric motor and 25.9kWh battery pack, which produces 670bhp and 930Nm of torque – 128bhp more than the previous GT S model. It can take the car to 60mph in 3.3 seconds, while the top speed is 190mph on both variants. Bentley claims that the car can travel up to 50 miles on electric power, which improves efficiency, refinement and reduces running costs.

Underneath, the GT S receives Bentley’s ‘Performance Active Chassis’, which includes an active all-wheel drive system, twin valve dampers on the suspension, active anti-roll bars, torque vectoring, all-wheel steering, an electronic limited-slip differential and new electronic stability control software.

The sporty ‘S’ model gains several exterior upgrades over the standard Continental GT, with a dark front lower spoiler, gloss black matrix grilles, black mirror caps, black Bentley badging, a black rear diffuser and side skirts.

Inside, there is a two-colour split on the upholstery with a fluted seat design, while the Dinamica fabric is found on the steering wheel, gear lever, seats and door inserts.

Bentley has not revealed prices at this stage, though it will sit between the standard car at £202,400 and the GT Speed at £236,400.
