Cupra has sharpened up its electric Born model with a new design and a more intuitive cabin.
The popular electric hatchback gets a far edgier look than before, bringing it closer into line with other cars from within Cupra’s stable.
The headlights now have a triangular design and incorporate Matrix LED technology while around the back there’s now an illuminated Cupra logo, just as you’ll find on other more recent cars from the brand.
Cupra says that both 19- and 20-inch wheel options gain wider tyres than before for improved handling while a new ‘one pedal’ driving mode allows for maximum regenerative braking which allows drivers to slow the car down by simply letting off the accelerator.
Inside, there’s a new 10.25-inch display ahead of the driver – replacing the older 5.3-inch digital instrument cluster – while a large 12.9-inch main infotainment system remains. Cupra has also aimed to improve general usability, with four individual window switches replacing the older – and somewhat criticsed – two-button design.
As with other recent Cupra models, the new Born makes use of eco-friendly Seaqual Yarn which is crafted from recycled plastics.
The new Born will be available with the same range of electric motor configurations as before, with range-topping VZ cars delivering up to 322bhp. Cupra quotes a range of 280 miles for smaller-battery 58kWh versions or around 373 miles for the larger 79kWh model. Rapid charging will see a 10 to 80 per cent top up completed in around 30 minutes for all versions.
Cupra has yet to announce pricing for the new Born, but has stated that production will commence in the second quarter of 2026 ahead of launch in the summer.
