Vauxhall’s ‘hot’ Corsa GSE has been spotted undergoing further testing at the Nurburgring race track in Germany.
The ‘GSE’ line-up forms part of Vauxhall’s performance-focused EVs, with the Corsa GSE the second model to use the nameplate after the recent Mokka.
Final details on the car have not been confirmed at this stage, though it has been confirmed that the Corsa GSE will receive an uprated chassis setup with tweaks made to its throttle, steering and ESC system.
The Stellantis-owned brand is using the 13-mile Nurburgring race track to make final development tweaks to the car’s handling and vehicle dynamics before it enters production.
Vauxhall has not revealed the Corsa GSE’s powertrain, though it’s likely to receive a similar setup found on its bigger brother – the Mokka GSE. That means it’s anticipated to use a 54kWh battery pack with an electric motor to produce 276bhp and 345Nm of torque.
Marcus Lott, at Stellantis’ SVP lead engineering, said: “The Corsa GSE will be the next addition to the GSE family. We want everybody to enjoy all-electric hot hatch performance and exciting driving dynamics. That’s why we specifically travelled to the Nurburgring to put the final touches on the set-up.”
Further details on the car’s specification, powertrain and exterior design will be revealed later this year.
The Vauxhall Corsa GSE will make its world debut at this year’s Paris Motor Show, which takes place from October 12 to October 18.
