Vauxhall adds plug-in hybrid variant to Grandland model line-up

Vauxhall is expanding the Grandland SUV model line-up with a new plug-in hybrid variant.

The Grandland is Vauxhall’s flagship SUV and is also available with regular hybrid and electric powertrains.

The new setup consists of a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine mated to an electric motor and 21kWh battery pack. In terms of power, it produces 222bhp and 350Nm of torque, while 60mph comes round in 7.6 seconds and it has a top speed of 137mph.

Vauxhall claims that the car’s on-board battery pack will allow the vehicle to travel up to a total distance of 51 miles on electric power, while it produces just 57g/km of CO2.

There will be three trim levels with the Design grade featuring LED headlights, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control and a 10-inch infotainment system. The mid-level GS adds further equipment such as heated front seats and steering wheel, a 16-inch infotainment system and ambient interior lighting.

The top-of-the-line Ultimate boasts a 360-degree parking camera, a head-up display, a powered tailgate, a heated front windscreen and a 10-speaker Focal premium sound system.

The range starts at £36,615 for the entry-level Design model and rises to £39,740 for the Ultimate car, putting it on price parity with the regular hybrid variant of the Grandland.
