Cupra has revealed its latest electric car – the Raval.
Building on months of teasers and camouflage models, the new Raval has now been showcased in production form ahead of its arrival in the summer.
The first of a new wave of small electric models from the Volkswagen Group – which will include cars such as the Skoda Epiq and Volkswagen ID.Polo – the Raval sits atop a new MEB+ platform which has been designed to maximise interior space while keeping exterior proportions compact.
In fact, the Raval measures just 4 metres long, making it slightly longer than the Renault 5 but considerably shorter than a Volkswagen ID.3. Despite its small size, the Raval still features a 441-litre boot.
It’s available with two battery sizes – 37kWh and 52kwh – with the latter option bringing a range of up to 280 miles from a single charge. There will also be four power outputs available, ranging from 85kW to 166kW in the range-topping VZ model. This high-performance version will also get a 15mm drop in ride height, a specific suspension tune and a wider track for more stable cornering.
The Raval will be available in four standard trim levels, with Raval, Raval Plus, Endurance and VZ bringing different levels of equipment. The first two specifications will only be available with the smaller battery option, too, while the latter pair will get the larger 52kWh battery and a longer range. Entry-level cars only get a top-rate charge speed of 50kW, compared with 88kW for the Raval Plus and 105kW for both Endurance and VZ cars.
All cars get a 10.25-inch digital cockpit and a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, alongside a button which has physical buttons for key functions.
Though Cupra has yet to confirm UK pricing for the Raval, it has stated that it’ll arrive in Europe with a starting price of €26,000, which would put it at around £22,644 in the UK if converted directly.
