Denza confirms D9 luxury minivan will be coming to the UK

Denza has confirmed that the D9 luxury minivan will be arriving in the UK this year.

Denza is the premium sub-brand of the Chinese giant, BYD. It has just launched its first model here in Europe with the Z9GT, and it’s already planning its second model with the D9 MPV.

The D9 will be a direct rival to the Lexus LM and uses BYD’s ‘DM-i’ plug-in hybrid powertrain. It consists of a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine paired to an electric motor and 58.5kWh battery pack that makes a total of 348bhp, can get the car to 60mph in 8.4 seconds and will reach a top speed of 112mph.

Denza claims that the D9 can travel up to 130 miles on electric power, making it one of the best PHEVs on the market for EV range.

Inside, the D9 boasts a 15.6-inch infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display and a 10.25-inch display for the front passenger. Rear-seat passengers can enjoy watching movies on the dual 12.8-inch multimedia screens, mounted on the back of the front seats, while there’s a seven-litre fridge and a 16-speaker premium audio system developed by French sound specialist ‘Devialet.’

The D9 will be compatible with Denza’s ‘flash charging’ network. It can be charged at speeds of up to 559kW, allowing for a 10 to 70 per cent top-up to be completed in just five minutes.

Prices and specifications for the UK market will be revealed soon, with the car expected to go on sale later this year.
