Ariel has unveiled the ultimate track-day toy with the Atom 4RR – the fastest car it has ever produced.
Ariel is a small British car company that makes lightweight sports cars and off-road vehicles, and the Atom is its longest-serving model.
The Atom 4RR is equipped with a hand-built, Honda Civic Type R-derived 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that develops 525bhp and 550Nm of torque.
It’s the fastest Atom to date, accelerating to 60mph in just 2.4 seconds, though a top speed figure has not been revealed.
The 4RR’s chassis has a bronze-welded, motorsport-optimised structure for better rigidity and strength, while four-piston motorsport brake calipers, race-spec pads and 310mm two-piece ventilated discs ensure maximum stopping power.
The car also boasts adjustable twin-tube Öhlins dampers, allowing drivers to set up their 4RR for different race tracks to suit their driving style. The carbon fibre bodywork, mudguards and aerofoils also reduce the weight of the car, coming in at under 700kg.
Inside, the cockpit features a digital display that shows lap-time information, performance and delta metrics. There are lightweight seats and a sequential transmission, for instant gear changes.
The Atom 4RR will be built-to-order, with prices starting at £208,000 and will be produced in very limited numbers.
