Fiat three-wheeled Tris pick-up ‘being considered’ for UK launch

Fiat is considering bringing its electric micro three-wheeled pick-up truck, the Tris, to the UK.

The Tris is already available in South African and Middle Eastern markets and has made its UK debut at this year’s Commercial Vehicle Show at the NEC, Birmingham.

The Tris is equipped with a 6.9kWh battery pack and an electric motor which develops just 12bhp and 45Nm of torque. It can take the truck a claimed 56 miles on a single charge and to a top speed of 28mph.

Its exterior features an in-built charging cable, allowing the vehicle to be topped up with a domestic plug socket in around three and a half hours.

Other details include a single front windscreen wiper, arrow-shaped LED headlights, black steel wheels and a bench seat.

Inside, there is a 5.7-inch digital instrument cluster and a battery level gauge. There is also a Cargo Box variant, which offers an impressive loadspace of up to 2,250 litres.

In a statement, Fiat Professional said that the Tris was ‘currently being considered for launch in the UK’.

Kris Cholmondeley, managing director of Fiat Professional, said: “Tris is a smart, forward-thinking answer to the growing demand for efficient last-mile delivery. It combines practicality, sustainability and versatility in a format entirely around urban environments. We’re thrilled to showcase it in the UK for the first time at the Commercial Vehicle Show.”

It’s still unclear at this stage whether the Italian firm will bring the Tris to the UK, though more details will follow in due course.
