Isuzu D-Max gets revised powertrain and styling

The Isuzu D-Max pick-up has received a new powertrain and updated styling to keep it looking fresh.

The D-Max is one of most popular pick-up trucks in the UK and rivals the Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger.

For 2026, the Japanese pick-up is now equipped with a new 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine, which replaces the old 1.9-litre unit. The setup makes 161bhp and 400Nm of torque, while power is transmitted through to a new eight-speed automatic gearbox, and there is the option of a six-speed manual.

The D-Max comes fitted with the firm’s ‘shift-on-the-fly’ four-wheel drive system which can switch between high gear two- and four-wheel drive at speeds of up to 62mph. All models also come with a low-gear four-wheel drive mode, a rear differential lock and Rough Terrain feature to boost its off-road capabilities.

There is a choice of Single Cab, Extended Cab and Double Cab body styles, while there is a new front radiator grille and grey accents featured on the LED headlights on higher-spec models.

Other upgrades include fresh alloy wheel designs, new seats and several driver safety assist systems including driver monitoring and emergency lane keeping.

All models come with a payload of up to 1,010kg and have a maximum towing capacity of up to 3,500kg.

The updated Isuzu D-Max range will be available to order in July with prices starting at £33,495 and rising to £42,995.
