Megan Thee Stallion to return to Broadway stage after pulling out mid-show

Rapper Megan Thee Stallion has said she will return to Broadway “stronger, clearer, and ready” to give 100% after pulling out of her show mid-performance.

The 31-year-old, also known as Megan Pete, was reportedly taken to hospital on Tuesday during her performance for Moulin Rouge! The Musical in New York.

It comes just over a week after she stepped into the role of Zidler, the master of ceremonies and owner of the Moulin Rouge, marking her Broadway debut.

The singer updated fans in a post shared on Instagram on Wednesday where she admitted she had pushed herself past her limits and was “running on empty”.

She told her 32.7 million followers: “Last night was a real wake-up call for me.

“I’ve been pushing myself past my limits lately, running on empty, and my body finally said enough.

“It honestly scared me. I thought I was gonna faint on stage, I really tried to push through my performance but I just couldn’t.

“I just need one day to rest, reset, and take care of myself the way I should have been… I’ll be right back on that stage Thursday, stronger, clearer, and ready to give you 100% the way you deserve.

“Thank you for always riding with me and loving me through everything.”

In February, she announced she would be joining the New York production of the musical from March 24 until May 17.

The rapper is best known for her songs, Body, Savage, Girls In The Hood, and WAP – her number one UK single with Cardi B.

In 2021, she won three Grammys including for best rap song and best rap performance for Savage, as well as the coveted best new artist award.
