Rolling Stones’ Ronnie Wood to perform solo show in London

Rolling Stones’ Ronnie Wood to perform solo show in London

Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood is to perform a rare solo show in London, it has been announced.

The intimate gig will be part of the veteran rock star’s first full live solo sets in more than 16 years.

On Tuesday the musician, 78, announced he will perform at London’s O2 Kentish Town Forum in August alongside close friend, singer-songwriter Imelda May.

Wood said: “I’m looking forward to kickin’ ass with my back catalogue and some new songs – look out London!!”

It comes after Wood announced a rare solo show at Amsterdam’s Paradiso.

High demand prompted him to add another date and he has now announced two new shows, one in London on August 21 followed by a show at Cologne’s E-Werk on September 3.

Before joining the Rolling Stones, Wood was part of Faces, the rock band behind hit song Stay With Me, alongside Rod Stewart.

The pair reunited on stage last year with Wood joining Sir Rod during his Glastonbury set.

The guitarist and songwriter is also known for Ooh La La with Faces and the Rolling Stones’ It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll.

Wood has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice – with the Rolling Stones in 1989 and with Faces in 2012.
