MET Éireann has issued a status yellow thunderstorm and rain warning for most of the country.
The status yellow will affect Donegal, Cavan, Donegal, Clare, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Connacht, Longford, Offaly and Westmeath.
The warning came into effect at midday and will expire tonight, at 9pm.
According to the forecaster, there will be localised slow-moving showers with heavy downpours, thunderstorms and the chance of hail.
Met Éireann said the weather could lead to localised spot flooding and difficult travel conditions.
