‘Heavy hearts’ after sudden death of father-of-two in Australia

Tributes have poured in for a Monaghan father-of-two who died in Australia.

Ciaran Carragher of Croghan, Monaghan, passed away on Saturday, June 15.

The father-of-two, who lived in Australia, formerly played for Cremartin Shamrocks GAA.

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up with the club to support his family.

Since the tragic news broke in, tributes have been pouring in for the Monaghan man.

“Devastated to hear this news. I was lucky enough to call you my cousin Ciaran, I cherish all the times we’ve spent together. you were always up for a good time and a chat always with a smile on your face. So blessed we got to enjoy so much time in Aus together over the years, you will be missed terribly by us all Ciaran, deeply saddened. Rest in peace, Gone too soon,” his cousin paid tribute.

The Cremartin Shamrocks GAA also paid tribute.

“Our former player, Ciaran Carragher died in Perth, Australia on Saturday 15 June 2024. As a club and community we offer our thoughts, prayers and support to Ciaran’s entire family here in Ireland and in Australia. As a practical expression of this, following requests from several people in our community this GoFundMe page is set up to support the family as they prepare to travel to Australia to celebrate Ciaran’s funeral,” they said.

Peron, the Australian company Ciaran worked for, also paid tribute.

“Our hearts are heavy with the loss of a Perdon family member, Ciaran Carragher (known to most as Joe 7 up). Our love and support goes out to Joe’s wife Fa and their two beautiful children Padraic and Maya. This tragic event has affected all of us and we are now in a period of mourning and adjustment. He has left a hole in all of our hearts and the business. We are all here for each other, if anyone needs anything please reach out.”
