The young girl injured in a knife attack in Parnell Square last November has been able to return to her home for a visit, her famliy have shared.

In an update shared on the family's official GoFundMe page on Tuesday, August 6, they described the short visit as a "very emotional" step in the five-year-old girl's recovery.

"We got to bring our baby home for a visit. It was the first time since November that she was in her room," the family shared.

"We were able to move to an adapted home, so it was also the first time she saw her new neighbourhood and house.

"It was a big step towards bringing her home for good... a very emotional one, and she did not disappoint. What a warrior!"

In previous updates shared throughout the summer, the family also detailed their "little warrior's" progress, as her communication and therapies improved and as she regained her strength.

"She has now become more interested in playing with sand, play dough, colouring. She has also been able to work on her Maths and spelling," they shared in a July update.

Almost €100,000 has been raised for the little girl and her family through the GoFundMe page, which was set up in the days after the Parnell Street attack.

The five-year-old was one of three children who, along with their carer, were injured in the multiple stabbing at Coláiste Mhuire, Parnell Square in November 2023.

A man in his 50s, Riad Bouchaker, has been charged in relation to the attack.

The two other children, aged five and six, and Leanne Flynn, their carer, have all since been released from hospital.
