REVEALED: The test centres across Ireland with the highest driving test pass rates this year

New figures from the Road Safety Authority (RSA) have shown that there was a wide variation in the rate of motorists passing driving tests at different test centres around the country in the first half of 2024.

The highest pass rate nationwide was recorded in Kilkenny, as more than two-thirds of people passed the test at the O’Loughlin Gaels test centre where there was a 68.4 per cent pass rate.

The lowest pass rate was recorded in Dublin, where two-thirds of drivers failed the test at one centre in Charlestown. The pass rate was 36.8 per cent during the six months to the end of June.

Eighteen test centres recorded a pass rate of less than 50 per cent, a slight decline from the nineteen test centres which failed over half of drivers in 2023.

Speaking on the varied results between different test centres nationwide, the RSA said driving test pass rates can differ depending on several factors.

These include the preparedness of individual test candidates; the varying size of centres some of which conduct many more tests than others; and higher pass rates for truck and bus drivers who are not tested at all locations.
