Gardaí have stood down the search for a man who was last seen in County Cork nearly a week ago, following the discovery of a body.
A public appeal for help in locating 44-year-old Aidan O’Shea was issued on Monday - two days after he was last seen in the Macroom area of west Cork.
A number of searches were carried out in the locality and in Cork city but in an update, issued this Friday evening, gardai confirmed the searches have now been stood down.
"Following the discovery of a man's body, the missing person appeal in respect of Aidan O'Shea has been stood down," said a spokesperson.

No further information has been disclosed publicly.
Gardaí have thanked members of the public and the media for their assistance with the appeal.
