Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the discharge of a firearm in Dublin on Friday night.

The alarm was raised at around 9.15 after reports were received of a shot being fired in the Shancastle Close/Shancastle Avenue area of Clondalkin.

"A man, aged in 20s, subsequently presented at Connolly Memorial Hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries," said a garda spokesperson who added that the scene has since been examined by the local Scenes of Crime Unit.

"No arrests have been made at this time. Investigations are ongoing," said the spokesperson.
