'Community spirit is alive and well' as parish comes together to clear snow for funeral

Community spirit is alive and well in Tipperary as roads were cleared for a funeral Mass over the weekend.

Cllr Liam Browne said: "It's be a long day for people all over Tipperary, with the snow causing huge difficulties. But it's also been a day when neighbours have gone out to check on one another, to help bring food or water, to push cars out of snow, and try their best to make people safe.

"I'd like to commend one special effort in the village of Clonoulty, where neighbours and friends came together to give a loved one a proper send off.

"Bridie Hammersley passed away a few days ago. She was due to be laid to rest on Sunday morning, but as the pictures below show, that was going to be unlikely.

"However, the roads were cleared and made safe and her family and friends were able to give her a proper send off.
Well done Clonoulty and Rossmore...didn't doubt you for a second."
