BREAKING: Manhunt underway as prisoner escapes while on escort to Tallaght Hospital
A manhunt is underway after a prisoner escaped from custody while on escort to Tallaght Hospital early Saturday morning.
Commenting on the incident, the Irish Prison Service said: "An Garda Síochána were notified immediately and provided with all the relevant information in relation to the prisoner."
Gardaí said that the man aged in his 40s absconded from Tallaght Hospital while receiving medical care in the early hours of the morning.

Gardaí also confirmed that the prisoner "remains at large and investigations are ongoing."
The full details of the escape are currently unknown.
The Irish Prison Service and gardaí are now investigating the circumstances of the escape.
