Tributes paid as 'lovely' man found dead in Galway after unreported crash is named
A man in his 30s who was found dead at home in Galway after an unreported crash has been named as local businessman Brian Bermingham.
His deaths has been confirmed with his family announcing on RIP.ie: "It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Brian. Deeply loved by his mother Ann (Carty), his father Pat and his brother Alan. Very sadly missed by his aunts, uncles, relatives, Alan's partner Alison and the whole Porterhouse family, staff and customers."
The man from Gortard, Clarinbridge, Co. Galway was found dead on January 10, 2025. He had been involved in a crash in Clarinbridge the day before.
He has been described as "always loving, gentle and kind" with his death notice saying he had left many "precious memories" behind.
A further tribute to him read: "I was saddened to read about Brian’s death this morning. Brian did a lot for me and my business which I will be forever grateful for. My sincere condolences to Brian’s Mum, Dad, brother Alan and extended family.
May Brian Rest in Peace."

A third read: "Brian, you will always be in the hearts of our community, a gentle person with a gentle soul. Thank you for sharing your light, we were lucky to know you."
Another person said: "Sincere condolences to the Bermingham family on Brian's passing. He was a lovely man. A pleasure to chat & interact with. He will be greatly missed. May he Rest In Peace."
In an appeal, issued on Monday evening, gardaí said the "unreported collision involving an SUV occurred on the L4102, a minor road at Slievaun, Clarinbridge, shortly after 9.15am on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
"The sole occupant of the car, a male in his 30s, was subsequently discovered deceased at his home in Clarinbridge on Friday, January 10, 2025," said a spokesperson.
Following the discovery of the man's body, the local Coroner was informed and a post-mortem examination was arranged. Following the completion of the post-mortem, gardaí say they commenced a Fatal Traffic Collision investigation.
Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have examined the vehicle and the scene of the collision and investigating gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
They are also urging motorists with dash-cam or video footage from the area at the time of the incident to contact them.
Funeral Arrangements:
Funeral Mass on Tuesday the 14th of January at 10.30am in Clarinbridge Church. Burial afterwards in Clarinbridge cemetery.
