Man killed by falling tree in horror crash named as 20-year-old Kacper Dudek

Kacper Dudek has been named as the 20-year-old man who died when a tree fell onto his car on Friday morning.

Garda forensics will carry out a full examination of the scene, at Feddyglass, Raphoe, this morning.

Mr Dudek, who was born in Poland and raised in Lifford, was making his way home from work in Letterkenny when tragedy struck.

The winds of Storm Éowyn were howling although the incident occurred before a status red alert was active from 7am.

Gardai and the emergency services attended the scene after being alerted to the incident, on the N14 Letterkenny-Lifford road, at around 5.30am.

The body of the deceased man has been removed from the scene to the mortuary in Letterkenny University Hospital where a post mortem examination will take place in due course.

The N14 remains closed and local diversions are in place.

Garda forensic collision investigators and divisional scenes of crime will conduct a full examination of the scene today.

A Garda family liaison officer (FLO) has been assigned to provided support to the family of Mr Dudek.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed that investigations are ongoing into the crash.
