ALERT:  Met Éireann's Irish weather forecast for week includes status yellow warning

Met Eireann weather forecast for the week ahead

Met Éireann is forecasting a "mix of sunny spells" over the coming days with a status yellow weather warning in some counties.

A Status Yellow wind warning has been issued for Wexford bringing strong and gusty winds.

This will bring further damage to already weakened structures and trees and dangerous travelling conditions, Met Éireann warns.

This is valid from 02:00 Monday 27/01/2025 to 14:00 Monday 27/01/2025.

Another Status Yellow weather warning was issued for Cork, Kerry and Waterford and is valid from 23:00 Sunday 26/01/2025 to 09:00 Monday 27/01/2025.

Monday:

Met Éireann said it will be a blustery start with showery outbreaks of rain with a few dry and bright spells on Monday January 27th.

Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds, strong in the south and southeast, will ease mostly light to moderate variable in the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees, coolest in the northwest.

Monday Night:

Showery outbreaks of rain will continue, according to Met Éireann, and it will turn quite cold with lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees.

"Light to moderate north to northwesterly winds will freshen overnight, becoming strong to near gale in southwestern counties by morning," Met Éireann said.

Tuesday:

"Tuesday will bring a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers with longer spells of rain possible in parts. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees with fresh and gusty northwesterly winds, strong over Munster and west Connacht, but decreasing moderate to fresh westerly later," Met Éireann stated.

"Rather chilly at first but turning milder for Friday and the weekend. Decent dry spells for many but showers in the far north and west. Turning more unsettled over next weekend," Met Éireann added.

Tuesday night will be dry for a good part of the country, but there will be some scattered showers in the north and west with some wintry falls in the north. Frost and icy patches are likely with some fog pockets too with mostly light winds. Lowest temperatures of -1 to +3 degrees, according to Met Éireann.

Wednesday:

It will be a cold bright day with sunny spells, according to Met Éireann.

While there will be a lot of dry weather, some scattered will affect mainly northern and western fringes, some wintry with hail or sleet. Highest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees with moderate north to northwest winds, freshening in the afternoon, Met Éireann said.

Wednesday night will bring clear spells and scattered showers, these mainly in the west and north with some wintry falls. Lowest temperatures of -1 to 3 degrees with moderate northwest winds easing light westerly. It will turn frosty with a few mist or fog patches too, Met Éireann added.

Thursday:

Met Éireann has said it will be mainly dry with sunny spells with highest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees with light southwest breezes.

It will be turning milder for Friday and the weekend, Met Éireann predicts, "but more unsettled and turning windy, with rain-bands moving in from the Atlantic."
