Drugs, cash and knives seized by gardai who broke up 'large gathering' in a residential area in Dublin

Investigations are underway after gardai seized a significant quantity of cash and cocaine, some of which was concealed in cement blocks.

Highlighting the detection on social media, gardai say two members of the force attached the Dublin Crime Response Team were on active patrols in the Dublin 1 area when they spotted a large gathering in a residential area.

"A number of people fled the area on arrival of the gardaí. On further inspection, the two gardaí discovered €2,500 worth of suspected cocaine broken down into separate deal bags and concealed in cement blocks," said a spokesperson.

Gardai say more than €3,400 in cash and a number of knives were also found and seized on the night.

"This seizure is subject to further investigation as part of an ongoing effort to disrupt and dismantle the sale and supply of drugs in the Dublin 1 area," added the spokesperson.
